Lusaka, 14th January 2022: On the 15th of December 2021, Government met with sixteen Public Service unions to discuss issues affecting the Welfare of Public Service employees. Government resolved to adjust, effective 1st January 2022, the basic salaries of all public service employees upwards by 12 percent. Other adjustments made by Government include the rate of transport allowances which will be adjusted upwards to 15 percent from 10 percent of the basic pay. To put this into perspective, these adjustments mean that for a “grade A” civil servant for instance, their basic pay will be raised by K366.76 from the current K3054 to K3420.76. Consequently, their gross pay (Housing and Transport allowance inclusive) will rise by K494.86 to K4617.76 from K4122.9.
